Egypt to offer chance to win fam trip at WTM London

Egypt will be celebrating new opportunities at WTM London this November and will also offer travel trade members the chance to go on a fam trip to experience the wonders of the country.

The Egyptian Tourism Authority (ETA)’s online training course helps tour operators and agents improve their knowledge about the land of the Pharaohs.

Individuals who complete the course will be entered into a prize draw, and two winners will be selected on a quarterly basis to enjoy a seven-day fam trip to Egypt, including flights, accommodation and transfers.

A spokesman for the ETA said: “The diversity of Egypt’s tourism product is one of its kind, from unmatched historical sites, beautiful beaches along the Red Sea Riviera and the Mediterranean coast in addition to state-of-the-art resorts providing top quality services in magnificent locations. All this is reached in less than five hours’ flying time from the UK.”

Egypt will also be at WTM London promoting the completion of the new Suez Canal extension, a multi-billion dollar project that will boost the country’s trade and economy, which was officially opened in August.

The massive project adds 35 km of new channels and 37 waterways in order to allow the passage of larger ships.

It is safe on Egyptian beaches

It is safe on Egyptian beaches

Last Sunday Egyptian special forces shot dead Mexican tourists by mistake, getting them mixed up with terrorists during a special operation in the Western Desert. The tourists entered a closed zone with no admittance; however, news about their deaths makes us think about the safety of resorts in Egypt.

The Egyptian authorities state that they guarantee the absolute safety of tourists who arrive to spend their vacations on the beaches of Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh. Major-General Ahmed Abdallah Muhammad, Governor of Red Sea province, explained: “After the revolution of June 30th 2013, we began to receive official Russian delegations in Hurghada. We have invited, in particular, a delegation of Russian Tourism Agency in order for them to be convinced of the security measures. Not only tourists from Russia come to Hurghada, but about 30 thousand Russians almost constantly live in Hurghada. Approximately 40-45% of all the tourists who come to our province are Russians. In about a month a Russian consulate will open in Hurghada. And this event, without a doubt, will greatly facilitate the work with Russian tourists in our province.”
